Opel Corsa 4wd Turbo Lamers Racing
Lamers Racing has been a loyal DP customer for years, we have seen the Lamers Corsa evolve through more stages of tuning (or evolutions as Joey likes to call them) then we can keep count of. It started with a simple naturally aspirated 2 liter 8 valve engine running in autocross 'standard' class that over many years transformed into a purpose build car for the 'toerwagen' class with highly modified 4wd system, custom made suspension and 500+ hp C20XE engine running on E85 fuel. We believe the current car is called 'EVO 3.6', but we could be off a couple of digits.
The Lamers Racing engine is in the base a C20XE that has been converted to a forged induction variant. Besides a fully upgraded 'bottom end' it features a Bosch Tuning flow optimized cylinder head together with Catcams camshafts, springs and solid lifters. The engine needed to have a broad power band therefore we chose a GT3071R turbocharger so with E85 fuel 500 hp would still be possible. The turbocharger is mated to a 316ti stainless DP-Engineering 'Blister C20XE/LET' exhaust manifold with two TiAL 38mm MVS wastegates and EGT probe connection ports. The intake manifold, fuel rail and oil catch are custom parts we made for Lamers Racing. A VEMS standalone programmable management system controls the engine, it uses a MSD coil pack together with a DIS-4 capacitive discharge ignition box providing additional spark energy.
In 2012 Lamers Racing will be competing with a complete new chassis that has been finished in the last part of 2011. Much effort has been put into getting a better cornering balance in the car, we are very excited to see the results!
