This Saxo VTS turbo is a nice example showing the power output benefits of E85 fuel over 98 octane. On 200 kPa absolute pressure (1.0 bar boost pressure) this engine showed 282 hp with 98 octane versus 310 hp on E85... almost 30 horses extra and lower exhaust temperatures as a bonus, a win-win situation!

Event hough the power figures this engine makes can 'easily' be done on stock engine internals, Dominik, owner of the vehicle wanted a fresh start with a newly built engine... not a bad idea considering most of these engines very likely already had to endure 10+ years of punishment. The engine has been built with forged pistons, upgrade connecting rods, ARP head studs, Cometic head gasket and upgrade engine bearings. Our TU performance aluminium intake manifold and TU 16v turbo package with GT28R turbocharger are bolt-on components (air-conditioning can remain fully functional). We made a custom 2.5" stainless steel exhaust system and upgraded the fuel system to suit the needs. For engine management we use our Vems PnP system with wideband, fast air temperature sensor and boost control solenoid upgrade.
